Through educational initiatives such as our youth film competitions, EarthxFilm provides youth with the tools to become the next heroes for our planet. 

Our Goals:
  • Encourage and incentivize the next generation to be environmentally conscious. 
  • Challenge young adults to think outside of the box to raise awareness.
  • Promote discussion involving environmental crises. 
  • Drive young adults to take action and get involved in their communities. 
  • Inspire the next generation to express themselves and explore their creativity using film and social media.

COMPETITION 1
Identify one critical issue plaguing our planet and tell or show us how you would solve it or how someone you know is already solving it.
$3500 in Cash Prizes

COMPETITION 2 Sponsored by PatentDive Educator 
Take your solution one step further. Pitch a new invention which solves the problem you identified. PatentDive will allow up to Five winners to use their patent-disclosing software.

AWARDS AND PRIZES
The top 10 films in each age category (11-16 and 17-22) will be chosen by the EarthxFilm and Planet911 teams. Top 20 films (10 from each age category will be considered finalists.) All finalists will be eligible for cash prizes as listed below. 
 
All Finalists will be screened by guest judges. Judges will decide Grand Prize, Impact Award and Category Winners based on assessment using designated criteria that includes: 
  • Artistic Merit (e.g., Story, Creativity, Entertainment Value) 
  • Technical Merit (Visual and Sound quality)
  • Adherence to the Topic
  • Impact (More weight is given to this criteria for Impact Award)

Social Media Award is based on number of online votes (limited to 1 vote per person, per day, per film.)  Audience Award is based on ballots passed out to the audience when films are screened at EarthxFilm Half Earth Day Celebration.

Up to two additional non-cash prizes will be awarded in early bird drawings potentially to be aired live on Instagram or Facebook at designated entry deadlines.
